I had to go out last week and I got this in change. I was surprised but I set it aside and it's a keeper. A counterstamp of Lincoln looking at Delaware.

It’s amazing what we all get back in change!! I would think that’s an older counterstamp...

Sweet little find, Collecting Nut. Anybody have any ideas as to who, or what possible entities, counterstamps these Lincolns with mostly States? And why? And finally, how difficult are these counterstamps to preform?

It's dated 1975 and that's 45 years ago. I think that's about right for its age.

Mike, if you think 45 is an older one then I'm in trouble. LOL

I think they made one for every state. Not sure who but you can find modern ones on the Cents onbthe internet.

Usually these cents were in BU condition when they were stamped as the were meant to be sold as novelties.

I read somewhere...or someone told me that during our lifetime valuable coinage passes through our fingers and we don't even know it. Something to the tune of $275,000 USD. Not all of us but a high percentage of people. This is done by receiving change from the bank, grocery store, money from vending machines, change we take to the bank and use that machine that counts up our change, etc. So ever since I heard this I have my handy-dandy Loupe and check EVERYTHING...or I put it aside for when I get home. This has provided hours and hours of entertainment...and YES I have found a fair amount of silver. Usualuy

This applies to most of population; but not all. This is done by receiving or giving change from the bank, grocery stores, coins from vending machines, change we take to the bank and use that machine that counts up our change, etc. So ever since I heard this I have my handy-dandy Loupe and check EVERYTHING...or I put it aside for when I get home. This has provided hours and hours of entertainment...and YES I have found a fair amount of silver. Usually quarters, dimes, OH yeah you know those coin machines in Walmart? The ones that people put their change into (Coinstar Kiosks); well ALWAYS check them as foreign coins don't fit and are rejected but they could be very valuable if you just check. I have found (2) foreign coins that I made a decent profit from. That was my tip of the day. Enjoy.

I've been checking my change and bills ever since I can remember. That's some time before I turned twelve.

Got a couple of Weir quarters today. (The first 2 I have seen). Great luster but a little nicked. I didn't put one in my album, in case I find a better example. If not I have one waiting.

It's counter punched. It's a novelty coin probability done for the Bicentennial.

Looks more hand made than those other ones I have seen in the ads.

I vote etched/handmade as the edges look rough. Also, why the initials WO?
