In less than a month, we're moving to Williamsburg, and leaving the only house my kids (12 & 14) ever remember living in. So I completed a project I started many years ago and will be hanging it up in my office at the new house. The house was built in 1925, so I made a 1925 year set of coins in this shadowbox, with a pic of the old house. I've never been much for dwelling on the past. But I wanted to honor the home we made, and memorialize a piece of our story together. (For all my fellow coin nerds, the coins are all Philly Mint, and all problem-free AU-BU grade, except for the buffalo nickel which is XF45).

Cute house, reminds me of fond memories. My wife lived in a house just like that when I met her when I was 15. First kiss, etc.

We live only a few hundred feet from it now.

My sons 15 & 17 only remember one house. My wife reminds me of this fact often, as she tells me its the reason I wont ever be able to sell it, or move.

Sounds like you found a nice middle ground of moving on while remembering the past.

We took it the year we moved in, but had it done in black and white for that "classic" look.

1925 mercury dimes in AU/BU are tough to find, btw.

My OCD is only triggered by the XF45 buffalo nickel, which fails to match the AU-BU set. So I feel ya.

@C-B-D I do hope that your move will be uneventful and proves to be an adventure for your family.

    @C-B-D congrats on the move.
Congrats on completing a great type set.
Best of luck in your new home.

FYI, I love the 1925 abode you're leaving behind. Lots of character.

I just happen to have an extra 1925 P in AU53/55 I'd be willing to donate to your wonderful memory. Just PM me your address, old or new, and I'll send it to you on my next trip to town. I love the idea of keeping the memories alive. 1925 AU55+ obverse.jpg

Nice! Back in 1998 my ex and I bought a large acreage in south central Oklahoma. In 2002 we bought a travel trailer (tornado bait) to live in while we built our house by ourselves. I remember designing the house from scratch and the many evening days after work and weekends to build it. Your house brings back a lot of memories since it looks almost identical to my old house; complete with a front porch and shed dormer. I used to miss it until I watched Tiger King. My property was less than 10 miles from Joe Exotic's zoo. If I knew more about what was down the road I probably would have spent my coin money on guns and ammo.

While you're being generous I wanted you to know I'm working in a birth set for my late mother. I still need a 1916-d Merc and 1916 SLQ. Just saying:)

I am floored by that kind offer! Stunned. I PM'd you. Would like to swap my XF for your AU and some money. The gift is just too kind, my friend. But yes, that would look better in there with the other coins. You made my day.

The sepia toned print is an especially nice touch.
    A real super Memento.
    Great job,
    J.T.

Addendum: I should have mentioned your creative solution to the 1925 'missing' 50 problem...Nice

I've always wanted to do something similar for my house but it was built in 1854 so those coins are a bit out of my price range.
