A guy at work has a $2 note with Francine Neff's autograph on it above her treasurer signature. He isn't sure what year that it is. He said it's uncirculated and it's in his safety deposit box at our downtown branch so I don't know much else about it. Any ideas on it's worth? After looking in my book I think the only year that Neff was treasurer was in 1976.
You are correct on the year! Signed notes are desireable at all times to the right collector...rare signature combinations command premiums...in this case depending on condition it should hold a small premium. Post images so we can see and make a better call. RickieB

She was treasurer from 6/21/74 to 1/19/77. She was appointed late in Nixon's 2nd term and served for Ford's entire presidency. You'll find her signature on various series 1974 notes as well. The only $2 bills with her signature are in fact series 1976 (in fact all series 1976 notes are $2 bills). Series 1976 was the last major redesign to the $2 bill and the first Federal Reseve note to have a $2 denomination. It was hoped to revive the denomination and save on printing costs, the idea being that people could use one of these in place of two one-dollar bills. That never played out because people had been used to doing without a $2 bill for a good 14 years previous to that and saw the 1976 bill as mainly a commemorative novelty (very popular amongst people collecting it to commemoratie the bicentennial). It never caught on to being a practically circulating bill again. However apparently enough people wanted it as a novelty or to collect it or whatever for the Federal Reserve to issue later series, periodically... since 1976 there's been a series 1995, 2003, and the most recent, 2003A.
It's not mine to keep. It's a co workers. He has it in his safe deposit box in our main branch so I've never even seen it. He was just asking me about it.
LOL - tells you what kind of week I have had. Just skimmed the body and saw autograph and $2 then assumed the rest. Wow - did I miss the message there. Sorrrrry
