They look like stickers that are placed on the coins. I've seen half dollars with other scenes on them in the past. Fortunately, yours are protected by the AitTites. Otherwise, the stickers have a tendency to show wear. Unfortunately, they are only worth face value, but you aren't out too much in the end. ~ Chris
They're colorized coins, produced by a private company such as Merrick Mint or Littleton Coin. I've seen quite a few of them in coin catalogs. Edit: Might also be a sticker as Chris suggested. No numismatic value, but still pretty cool! After all, approximately $1 each isn't the worst deal.
My guess would be The Merrick Mint, though there are a lot of places that colorize coinage. Unfortunately you're at the "at worst" end of the value spectrum, however, $32 is a good price if you think they're neato mosquito. EDIT: It appears Legomaster beat me to it by seconds.
LOL. I should get them in 3 days. I'll let you know if they are stickers or colorized but figured I can pass them onto my grandson. They still look cool and I've wasted way more money away on stupider stuff!
Let's not forget that these are in air-tites. If bought in bulk, the T30 will run around $0.54 each. So, each one has a "value" of at least $1.04 ($31.20 for the lot). Even considering the high shipping cost, not a bad deal at all!
If you paid a dollar each and you like them, that's the deciding factor. As for value, it's always going to be 50 cents each, unless you sell the whole lot to a "collector" and break even or make a small profit. Let's see photos of all the designs close up. TY
Nice and Educational. To further his education write a little additional information about what they represent. Look at the dates of the event. All educational. Great show and tell.
These are the best pics I could pull from ebay link. Thinking they may be stickers. I'll know for sure in 2 days
Even if they're stickers (which they probably are) you did just fine at that price especially since you enjoy them
When you stop and think about it, a rather inexpensive history lesson with graphics! Your grandson should really enjoy it. If you can go back to the e-Bay site, the seller may have described whether or not they are colorized or stickers.
