1897 Barber Quarter what is the grade

    This was found in a purse that belonged to my greatgrandmother. She passed away in 1969. We didn't find it until last year.
    I am trying to learn this grading thing.
    I'm going to say Good (and very used) because there are no details on the head. Guess it's worth 25 cents!

    Right on! According to the Red Book:
    Way off! Bullion value is about $1.30, ;) and, better yet, my old Red Book says $4 for a G-4 1892 Barber quarter.:D

    Yes, but what about a 1897 Barber quarter? :) That looks like a 7 there. :)

    About $6.00 for a G-4, 97 Barber

    Another question on this grading thing....
    You say G-4, is there a G-5, G-6 etc..?
    Since this coin is a family thing, it will be going into a pass down to the kids album.

    Technically yes - but those grades are very seldom used. Normally you would jump from G4 to G8.
