Hi all. Found another Dansco book in my stepdads collection. Some very nice looking coins here but have zero clue what this book would be worth. Or if its better to sell the coins individually. Some of the reales are counterstamped it looks like. Any info would be great on its value. I realize it's hard to tell from the photos and not seeing these coins in person but even a ballpark would be appreciated.
The pillars look like they will be the most valuable. They were pretty widely available in the 70s and 80s, but are now much scarcer. They run $200-300 and up for nice AU-BU coins.
Look at the reverses [tails] of the top row, 2nd picture, those are the pillars-- from the 'Pillars of Hercules'.
In this case, I think you could unlock more value by breaking them up and selling them separately. Not many people have the capital required to buy the whole set.
Hello Lyricfive, You may want to take them to a coin shop & let someone check if they are real. My uncle gave me a copy he had spent $150 on, thinking it was real. If you are going to sell them this would preclude a lot of hassles. Just saying, J.T.
yeah...I have found this is a bit of a dilemma as I know my stepdad had a lot of fakes and I have no idea how to spot those. The majority of everything he had is authentic. I have found with some of these Reale coins fakes look super legit. I sell on ebay and the last thing I wanna do is get kicked off ebay for accidentally selling a fake. Sadly I do not know anyone who is reputable to give me good advice which is why I come to this forum for as much info I can get.
Good advice. My gut tells me these coins are real. Some look pretty nice as well. I'd bid on more than a few of them!
A few of those coins look very nice and would fetch high dollar, tbh. The OP would be wise to take his/her time before parting with them.
Don't forget that the album the coins are in is valuable also. A Dansco Mexico type set album can fetch $50+ on Ebay. To my knowledge they are not 'faked' so nothing to worry about there.
