Sorry, I don't have a pic of it. But, I came across a 2007 Us State Quarter :"Utah" in Near Mint condition with absolutely no copper traces at all.

All the other Utah quarters I come across have the copper markings ..

I was wondering if it was an error or have they started to make quarters out of stainless steel?

It's lighter then the average quarter too....

Pics will help and ones of the edge especially. ;) Also, weigh it on a scale that goes to the hundreths and let us know the exact weight. :thumb:

    Ribbit :)

OK start there, how much lighter. What does it weigh? I have two possible answers to your question depending on the answer to my question.

I weighed it.. Although, it feels lighter

it has the same weight as a quarter...

.200 ounces and, i noticed that it's a little thicker too... the mint mark (P)

OK, since the weight is correct you have two possibilities. Sometimes when the blank is punched from the strip the outer later of coppernickel is smeared over the copper edge and hides it. Second possibility, and the more likely one is that you have a coin that has been silver plated by an outside firm. There are several companies out there that are silver, gold, and even "platinum" plating state quarters for sale as "collectibles". When the poor saps that buy them then later try to sell them and find that they have no collector value and are just worth face value, they spend them. Then people find them in change and think they have something special and turn to online forums asking about them.
