It hasn't happened to me before, but I have failed to receive an order from an ebay seller on a set of 2020 proof coins. Given the unusual circumstances with this whole virus thing, I wonder if others are experiencing unfilled orders. Is the seller a victim of the virus? Will ebay be able to do anything about it? I have tried to contact the seller to no avail. Ebay list this sale as NOT covered by the money back guarantee. Ordered feb 20. Expected delivery April 20. Maybe I'm just impatient.

I've had similar experiences with eBay orders, with no good means for communication. Responses from seller being a form letter.

    Is it being shipped internationally?

I accidentally bought a coin from someone in Puerto Rico and it took about a month or more.

Was it a clad or silver proof set? Was it a pre-sale maybe? The mint is taking a long time on orders.

It was a pre-order on a clad set

    Welcome to CT.

Personally, I'm just curious why you ordered a yet to be released (at the time) US Mint product from an eBay dealer with expected delivery almost two months after the release. The 2020 Proof set was released on February 27 and is still available on their website for $32.

The seller would have to be the one to answer your first question. As to the second, it is not a matter of whether eBay is able, but willing to do anything. If you were notified in the beginning that the purchase would not be covered by their "guarantee", then they have already washed their hands clean of the money portion. You will need to contact your payment processor to obtain a refund if needed.

Seeing as your expected delivery was supposed to be April 20, if you had not received any tracking information from the seller within days prior to that date, you probably should had already began communications before that date. By April 20, with the seller not responding, I would had already filed a claim against the seller (knowing there would be no "money back guarantee" from eBay) simply to see if that got his attention.

If you have received tracking information, then you should be checking the status with the carrier. I know that I am expecting a few packages that have been bouncing around the Denver CO Distribution Center for the past four days. Whenever that happens, I have found that the package either goes missing or I receive it damaged and/or opened. So, keeping track of the package through carrier tracking is important. And, inquiring with the carrier when the package tracking seems unusual doesn't hurt either.

Also, it would be a good idea to check the seller's recent feedback. If he is displaying feedback over the past several weeks, then he is likely available and in business. Sometimes, information can be obtained through feedback and subsequent responses.

However, just make sure that you do not wait too long to take care of the problem. You do need to be proactive in this situation and you will need to be the one to be contacting your payment processor for a refund if that is needed.

I, too, have often wondered why anyone would buy from a dealer at an inflated price when the products are still available from the mint. It just doesn't make sense at all. But, if you watch eBay you will see it happen again and again. If you want to keep up with current US Mint products, and get them shortly after release, simply subscribe for that product. The mint will notify you about the release and you can get it in good time. Plus, you can get notifications on all upcoming products.

I agree with you. I don't know why anyone would would pay more money for the same item. Why use a middle man?

I could be wrong but some people don't know about the US Mint, never heard of it. Maybe some people think it's like Costco and you have to be a member! j/k laughhard.gif

My thinking is that he ordered a guarantied certified product ...
IS this the case ? PF70's

I also find that shipping times are extremely longer lately for no reason
as the PO has not stopped any operations.

Do you have a tracking number ??? @Greg Walbert

You do have recourse as "item not received"
if after the date the seller said it would be shipped and sent

Do you have a link to the auction - if you do not mind ??

Looking at the feedback for the listing, it appears only seven people out of forty sales have left anything thus far: 4 negative, 3 positive. The seller had responded within the past month stating that there had been problems and the money had been refunded.

I would say that matches your current situation. Now would be the time to open an item not received case and get his attention. Sometimes things happen. And sometimes people do stupid things when backed up against a wall...and there are quite a few people out there today that feel their backs up against a wall. There is a lot of stress on people today. I would give the seller a chance to make things right with a refund.

But, I personally would not make things worse by leaving a negative if the seller refunds quickly and without problems. Neutral, yes, unless the seller gave problems about the whole thing...then I believe that would warrant a negative.

Thank you I will open an item not received.
