Wow, that's really sad. The details on it are pretty good too...if it wasn't for that damage that would be a sweet coin. As is, I don't think it's worth anywhere near the $300 someone is currently bidding on it. I wouldn't pay $50 for it.

 

The former owner of that coin must have made someone very angry!

 

Or the former owner had a very angry (ex?)-wife.

 

Or a strategic cut to remove a "copy" imprint on the rev. Oh......may I am too suspicious as no one would do that for profit. I am shocked at the bidding also!

How would someone cut a coin like that without pinching the edges? Seems like even a hydraulic sheer would pinch it.

 

I saw that one too! Somebody done somebody wrong! I am new on the board today. I know nothing about coins...check my profile and first post. Even I wouldnt bid on that one. looks like the product of a very bad divorce!
