I had a few questions on this coin so I figured Id show it off in a larger picture- It is a 1964 Proof Jefferson nickel- I freed it from the proof set just yesterday- I usually dislike anything modern but I just couldnt pass this one up- There is a reflection on the bottom of the coin from the stand I used to hold the coin in the position I needed it in for the color to show up correctly.
Kool coin , great pictures , better put it under guard , if Lehigh sees it , ah oh . Thats got to rank in the top 5 toned coins I've seen . rzage
The plastic was broken in every spot around all the other coins in the set. The silver coins all had an unsightly green haze type of tone (not PVC). & the copper had the beginings of corrosion .This coin was the only in the set where the plastic was for the most part intact. There may have been some minor hole that let the correct elements in. My theory is that the nickel holds up better to the elements around it .
Hey..... Sorry to break this to you bud but, that is what a nickel looks like when you let it sit in dandruff shampoo for a few days. I've seen it done before. Im not going to act like I know everything so its probably real.
