I need a microscope that adjusts focus electronically while at max magnification. But I need the price to be under $50. Oh! And one that let's me turn off the auto adjust for the lighting.
I've been on a buying binge lately. These are pick up from this morning. Two are R5 upgrades and one is a common variety which was mislabeled as S-163 and turns out to be S-159. It intrigued me because the top hair was too strong and you could see dentils over LIB, something you don't see even on XF examples. Figuring out it was S-159 left me with a decent example of a coin variety I needed. I'm now in Coin Debt with Paypal for a couple of years. Any opinions on details and Net Grade is appreciated.
This is a top-pop in PL. I think there is a MS68 in the regular business strike, and a MS68 in DPL. On this one you can see some "doubling" on Robert E. Lee's name on the obverse; this is common with these medals. This is the variety that is undated (774); there is another one (773) that is dated "1729-1929." There aren't many of these graded, but there are several in MS66 and MS67, so far from a top-pop here.
I have been trying to complete the 1880’s for my set of Indian Head cents. I started looking for them all at the same time, and gradually picked up an example of each year, but never found an 1886 that wasn’t priced far out of my range. It’s been an extended search. Do you ever get more than you expected? This Type 1 example showed up on eBay at a price below the usual, and was billed as Gem BU. The photo was not stunning but the coin showed a good strike. So I took the plunge. It just arrived. It is so glossy and well struck I thought it could be a Proof. And the reverse has not one, but two sets of clash marks. I show those in the last photo, and you can also see them to the right of CENT. Since I don’t see matching marks on the obverse, I can wonder if the obverse die was damaged or worn, and got swapped out, leaving only the reverse with the clash marks. Above: Detail of the chin wrapping around above the O, and the lips to the left of it. The line of the neck extends upwards to the shield.
bought the nickel online for about 4 dollars, dime came from a roll of mixed unc dimes i bought online, cost 60 cents..whattya think??? you can see the reeding of the dime on lower right, and on the nickel what appears to be brush marks from cleaning the die, all around the building giving it a "halo" effect
