LOL, actually I was diagnosed as severely dyslexic in my late 30's. Because I had to deal with it, and overcome it, my mind approaches things a little differently from many others. and reading misspellings / misplaced letters is usually not a prob for me, cuz my mind is already misplaced.
Yep, the old "C" problem. I have wondered why so may people pronounce it Boston Seltics, when it should be Boston Keltics.
Perhaps there is a regional Celtic dialect/accent that pronounces it that way? I've also wondered the same thing.
Anyone living in or around Atlanta want to say anything about Ponce de Leon Avenue? How is Houston Street in NYC different than Houston, TX? Finally the Chinese leader Mao Tse Tung in Japan is Moe Tack Toe.
And here's the root of all confusion: The Tower of Babel (Breughel the Elder) When in doubt about pronunciation, blame the Babylonians... Now there's a painting I'd like to have...
..i always say 'nick o media'....but i get muy purdy talk from a dude named copper nicus....an old astronomer friend o mine..
I spent seven years in a Roman Catholic seminary, actually a monastery, of a religious order. This was before the Vatican II council that saw the liturgy changed from Latin into the local vernacular. If we followed the daily rule properly we actually spoke more Latin in the course of the day than whatever our vernacular language was. The philosophy classes at the adjacent university were conducted in Latin and the philosophy textbooks were also in Latin. The object of that was actually to make us conversant, if not quite fluent, in Latin as a spoken language. The video you shared reminded me of those days. His pronunciation was impeccable in the Classical version of the language, a bit different from the ecclesiastical version we used in classes and in the liturgy, but not that much. Thanks for the memory.
