I don't recall us ever looking at a Liberty Seated Dollar so here goes.

I think it is a 58 just because of the wear in Liberty's hair.

    I' m in the MS63 camp.
That's a beauty for sure, congs.

It appears the luster is thicker in the protected areas. I'm going with lightly circulated.

Textbook AU-58. Clear rub in the high points and some hints of it in the fields. If NGC graded it higher, then this coin is yet another poor victim of gradeflation

I agree with a couple posts AU58, but my guess is the TPG graded it MS61

If graded lately, I would grade AU62. I agree with others, this is a coin I would have loved 25 years ago when I loved buying up pretty AU coins. Very lovely coin.

Modern practice of grading AU coins MS grades. :)

Oh my bad. I didn’t know that was a term.

Nice try but no such! :D I'm giving it a push to MS-60, the wear on the head don't matter as it's a great looking coin otherwise! Just so you know, I've been wrong before but it still gets a 60 in my book! ;)

I think it looks like an old-school 58, from what I can see. Great strike and patina too.

I find it funny you only give it a 60, when all agree that this is not an uncirculated coin. Pretty sad, huh?

I’d agree with AU62. It’s not an UNC coin and the technical grade is probably AU58, but I guess the label says MS62.

My grade: the nicest AU-58 you'll ever see anywhere.

It is a sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek term. Sometimes, you'll find coins graded MS-62 that have a bit of rub on the high points. Just the slightest bit, and it might be hard to see, but it's there. The coin is clearly superior to an ordinary AU-58, but it technically has rub.

So, the cynics amongst us (and I am one), call it an "AU-62." Not a real grade, more of an insult.

As to the OP's coin - that is a gorgeous AU-58.
