Thanks Coinfreak and Arizona Jack, Ya it was a gift. I didn't have one yet so it's going in my album for now.
I also go for F-12 details, but the edges look a little rough, extending into the rim so would grade vg-10. But nice clean coin for the grade. Would look well in a collection. Jim
Of the early Lincolns these had some of the best strikes so in my mind there's no question of any die issues. The wheat lines are close enough (probably just a bit over) to being 50% there that it makes for a fairly solid VG-8 in my book. I don't see the rim dings as being that big a deal in this grade of coin... It's seen life and as such shows some of the effects. The great thing about P VDB's is that there isn't that much difference in price as you go up in grades. Since the coin was a gift I'd understand if you wanted to keep it for sentimental reasons, but if you're not attached to it I'd sell this one on eBay using the pictures you posted here. If I were going to guess you'd end up realizing about $7 or $8 after you take shipping into account. With that in hand I'd look at seeing if you couldn't pick up the best example you can find in the $15-$20 range. You'll definitely end up with something in the AU range and if you're lucky something close to MS.
