When I bought my 1938-D WLH recently, I went ahead and bought this too, more as an afterthought since I didn't have a Barber quarter and it had decent details (except for the weird reverse stain). It certainly isn't the pride of my collection, more just a "what the h*ll" kind of purchase. Not a key date, nothing special. Anyway, would you have picked it up? and What's your grade estimate?
I agree with your grade and it might go just a tad bit higher. As to price, did you buy this in addition to another coin from one seller and get combined shipping? So the 15 dollars is the total amount? If'n so, that's half of book and I always think 1/2 of book is always a great deal. :thumb: Ribbit Ps: I forgot my normal disclaimer - I suck at grading silver!
LOL - no I wouldn't have. Simply because I really do not know anything about barbers or their prices. But looking at my grading software - I would say F-15. Of course this is from a non expert who just happens like coins that look like this. So I am happy you bought it. I have looked at barber coinage, but so far I have not bought one. To me this is a fair deal.
No, bought from a local dealer. No shipping, just gas! He would have sold it to me for that price without buying the other coin.
I would say that is at least a VF-25 and if you can get a $35+ valued coin for only $15, then you did very well! Frank
The stain looks a little like "frog spit" ( buggy gunk). I would try a little acetone on it to see if it removes. Jim
Hey CB, Here's my $15 coin from this weekend: I think low-end coins need a home too. Ribbit Ps: I believe it's a N-3 (R-1) so it's nothing special. hya:
Whoa - that coin has sure been battered! Looks like the young lady has met Jack the Ripper! It's surprising what one can get for $15, eh?
That's the problem with coppers, they were well used and got banged up quite often. I got it from the local coin shop dude and basically bought it since I didn't want to walk out empty handed. He doesn't have what I collect so I try to buy something when I stop in and this was all I liked. Ribbit
