Hi again folks. I was encouraged by the two gentlemen that posted responses to my first thread. I was able to find some paperwork that I thought I lost that gave me names of some coins that I would like to find and I am hoping your combined intellects will help me find them. Okay, the following coins were used in Colonial America during the 1700s. They may not have been the most COMMON coins of that time period (A meaning they were really common, F means really rare), these may have been C/D rarity coins. I hope that you might be able to help me. Dutch coins Gulden / Florijn (silver coin) Ducatoon (silver coin) Ducat (gold coin) French coin Guinea (gold coin) Portuguese coins Cruzado (silver coin) Moidore (gold coin) Johannes / Joe (slang term, possibly - gold goin) I'd really appreciate the help. Varrus - The French did not issue Guineas - that was a British gold coin. I did quite a bit of searching on this subject, and while I was able to come up with literally thousands of ancients and renaissance coins - I was surprised that I could find very few from the period you want. So I'll tell ya what - it may not be the replica coins you want, but how about using pictures of the real deal ? I own a few of the coins you want to find and have pictures posted on the net. You can open the links and print the pictures if you wish. If this is suitable to you - I'll send you a link via PM to the majority of my collection and you pick and choose as you please.
Wow...GD, thank you so much. I like the idea of showing them some pictures. If I can't find replicas or afford the real thing (good grief, would I dare let teenagers handle the real things?!?!?!) then the pictures would work great as another example of how things were different from then and now. I saw the PM...and was floored...that was quite an offer and some amazing pictures!!! Shows just how little I actually knew! lol Thanks again!

I am sure they would tickled pink to actually come to your school with the "real deal" and show your class. And yes, the teenagers could handle them For when a coin is in a suitable holder, it's not likely they could hurt it
