I'll say YES to green ...solid overall

 

Not my area, but I'll say Yes to the bean. This nickel is gorgeous.

On a related note, this coin appears to be weakly-struck. I don't know if that is universal for the 1913-D issue or not but for the sake of this question, let's say that there are sharp, average, and weak strikes among the population of 1913-D nickels.

So, for this population of varied strikes, does CAC then consider the strike quality into its determination? In other words, a weakly-struck example in MS-66 would not get the bean while a sharply-struck example in MS-66 would get beaned?

 

Yes, if people are convinced of the superiority of PCGS most correctly graded coins in NGC holders will get cracked out leaving the mistakes. This makes the "bias" even more lopsided.

This was the same problem ANACS or ICG had in the 90s. They could correctly grade most of the time but if you can't get PCGS money for the coin it's gonna get cracked out.

As to the comment above about inconsistency: I believe CAC is more so than any of the TPGs by nature. The TPGs have already done the "hard work" by grading the coin in the first place. All CAC does is "bless it" so to speak. IMO, getting the coin from raw to graded is the difficult step (is it fake? Has it been altered? AT? etc etc) has already been done so CAC has the easier task and, IMO, is pretty consistent with it.

I like that coin! I compared it to an MS66 plus I have and believe it is accurately graded. Worthy of a greenie.

 

THat's actually a pretty good strike for the coin. Green Bean....of course I assume than the slab photo is pre-submission. The coin does look close to a 67.
