I have a Mercury coin book with observe and reverse plastic slide outs to put your coins in. I was able to pull out some on the 1st page, but I can't pull any out of the other pages. I tied using small tweezers, but I can't open them enough to grab the plastic pieces.
Does anyone ever had this problem?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

No, can't really say that I have. Maybe I have naturally sticky fingers, but I can generally put a thumb against the sheet in one of the empty spots, and wiggle it around until it starts to move. (I've only ever had to deal with one or two pages that didn't have empty spots, and those were never tight. But they weren't Library of Coins, either.)

Place your fingers on the plastic sliders over the coins and using friction try and drag the sliders out. You can use several fingers, try slightly moistening them first. This works on my Dansco albums. ;)

Those look like older books. Try putting your thumb and index finger on opposite sides of one of the openings and then wiggling it around to see if you can free it up. If you have an extra slide, see if you can squigee it in to free up stikiness.

I have that problem sometimes. I wet my finger then partially dry it to increase the friction. Wiggle them a little and work them out.

If you have an old fashioned pencil w/ a rubber eraser on one end, I found that
the eraser can be used to move the plastic slides unless they are hung.

If and when you get them out wipe them down and let them dry before putting them back. And, I would like to know the Copyright date on the albums.

Also try jiggling them up and down with your fingers on the holes, not just outward. Most times they are stuck under a bit of cardboard they were not meant to be under.

Sell them on eBay as antique collectables and buy new ones.

Most have already answered. I always had to "wiggle" mine a little while touching the plastic through the holes to get mine to move.

It does happen from time to time, especially on older books.

Very cool old dime book! I keep some of those rubber fingertip things in with my coin books. The things you get from the office store when you flip through papers. They get the job done for me.

Not my thread, but, I would declare that a "Best Answer".

Cool Library of Coins book!. I use the pencil eraser & tweezer approach but I like Randy's finger cot solution.

Shoot. How old are you? My old man gave me albums like these (which I still have) but I've never tried to remove anything from them.........:)

    PS: I'm a real old guy. :)

That's why I asked for the copyright date. I thought they were older than the 50's.

Well, how you gonna fill those slots without sliding the plastic out of the way...?

Is there an "Old Guys" Club here? The older we get the more coins we want; does that make us greedy old men? Can you believe this, I use a Forsner bit to drill into the coin book. It worked, did it from the back side, did mess the paper a bit, but it is ok, I can't believe it did it, but I was getting stress out. It does make a small in the plastic slide. Next time I am going to use the drill press. :)
