It's worn, it's crystallized, but it's of historical significance

Bought as part of an old collection, this worn, polished (!) and laminated denarius clearly had seen more glorious days. Many excellent posts have been written on the IVDAEA coins, commemorating the victory over Jeruzalem, so I'll just post the coin.

    Leuke munt!

Despite the wear, that portrait is nice. Moreover, I think it is never wrong to have a coin that refers to a historical event.

This Vespasian probably indirectly also refers to the victory in Judaea.

Mine is the somewhat scarcer Titus issue.

The style looks really odd. Is it an unofficial issue?

That's a beaten up but great to have in your collection. A large amount of history hides behind that specific reverse design. Here's mine:

This just came in today from @Valentinian today. I purchased it on Saturday. I couldn't pass up such a historical coin with my favorite reverse of Nike/Victory on it.

While not Vespasian, or a denarius, it still fits the theme I think :)
