I know it's overpriced, but my son turned 5 on 08/08/08 and I thought the Gold Prosperity Set would be a neat thing for him to have in a few years.

So, I've bought a set and am expecting to receive it shortly from the mint.

I was wondering if NGC or PCGS would grade it and label the capsules as coming from the Prosperity Set or 08/08/08? If I sent it to the unopened?

I believe NGC will, and it could be in a multi-coin holder as well.

From what I understand everything that you said is correct..... but that is the key.... You have to send them the box unopened..... You can't even sneak a peak before sending it off. You send it off and hope for the best as far as grade. The multi-set is a nice feature that NGC does. It costs a bit more, but would be worth it considering the occasion. You should probably call to confirm that they would do a multicoin slab for this set. The people are really friendly and easy to work with. They will answer all your questions. Unfortuantely, there are fees to join NGC or PCGS. As a member of the ANA, the membership fee is waved for NGC. PM me if you are interested in joining the ANA and I will get you an application. Its about $38 a year to join and in addition to many benefits that ANA members are entitled, you do get a one year subscrition to the ANA magazine, THE NUMISMATIST. I joined this year and have enjoyed my membership thoroughly. Good luck.

    Thanks, I'm an ANA member.

I've got a few other coins I'd like to send in as well and will send in the box when I receive it.

    Thanks for your help!

I have never been charged extra for getting coins in a multi coin holder. I like to send in proof/ms versions of commemorative in and have them put int he same holder(proof and ms version in the same multi coin holder)

It doesn;t cost any thing extra if you send them in to be graded, but if yo want them to be put in a multicoin holder after the fact you pay a re-holdering fee.

That is a very good thing to know. Although I belong to NGC and never had anything placed in a multi-holder, I just remember seeing something were there was an addtional charge for the multcoin slab..... good to knwo that is not the case.

I should have said that I have NEVER sent anything in to be graded, but that all may be changing here in the next few weeks. What results are you talking about?
