    It's interesting that every one of those CAC commems is in an MS65 holder.

    That speaks volumes to the notion that the graders may have had an aversion to awarding grades above MS65 in the early days.

    Perhaps as much attributable to a psychological barrier as to a change in grading standards?

    My father submitted them from his collection he bought through the years. It's my understanding he has 2 complete commemorative sets.

    Refresh my memory.....Gold Bean means, what ? Dramatically undergraded ?

    Regular bean means "strong for the grade" as I recall.

    Are you saying they wouldn't grade ABOVE that level unless it was definitively Super Gem quality (>MS67) ?

    Or are you saying that alot of coins that were borderline 65's, and even 64/63's, got elevated "up" to MS65 ?
