here ya go... guess the grade sorry I haven't been so vocal lately... then again... maybe you've been enjoying it
To me the obverse looks like EF or AU with a heavy die clash on the obverse. The revers looks AU. Lou
I know I'm stupid about these things, but I can't see in any way how that can me an MS. Look at the ear and the reverse looks quite rubbed. Ruben
It's not stupid that it looks AU. The problem is that if it is AU, the submitter is a complete idiot. There are no Roosevelts worth slabbing that are not gem state MS (including the 1949-S). So when we see a Roosevelt in a PCGS holder we automatically assume that it is uncirculated. Having said that, I will guess that it is MS65, but the photos are really too small to make an accurate determination.
It looks like an old PCGS rattler to me, but if I am wrong and it is not a PCGS slab then the coin very well might be AU. I am sticking with my original guess of MS65 though.
Having a bad night. I don't have many PCGS holdered coins so I always forget the progression of the holders. I have to change my mind again. Not a rattler holder which didn't have the concentric rings, but an early OGH instead.
Spot on, Lehigh! It IS an old green holder (after the rattler, but before the new green holder, before the current blue holder). And your logic is also spot on... If this coin isn't MS, then I am an idiot for certifying a $10 coin, so you are safe to assume that it is indeed an MS coin. I like to show this coin because (and this is directed at Ruben, No stupidity in your statement at all, sir!) if I hadn't seen it in the slab, I would have NEVER believed that this coin is MS. I have learened so much from this particular coin about toned coins and toning on coins in general. Mostly how to look for luster underneath the toning, and on the highest points of a design for wear. You can totally tell when the coin is in hand, though. There is luster underneath all of the monster toning on this coin! It is really apparent on the reverse, but you must look closely to see it on the obverse and the pics don't really show it well to be honest, and the detail is ALL there. I will let a few more chime in before I disclose the grade on the slab and keep the coin... (curse you Spock! ) congratulate yourself, Lehigh! good detective work! and HUSH, Spock, I did NOT!!!
Yeah but I can only judge it buy how it looks and it sure don't look like a MS or Proof coin to me. Dimes are weird, but still. This is a dull coin. Ruben
Reuben I know what you are angling at but that definitely is Mr. Roosevelt on the Dime. BTW....I like Harry but that aint him on the dime.
