I have seen a few, and have owned one..and from what I saw, they grade as good as the top four...why don't they get respect?

From what I have seen of them, they do a fair job for the earlier lower grade coins, but they are way off forthe later higher graded coins.

I don't know much about PCI. But I've often thought that ICG and ANACS were a bit underrated.

They seem to grade okay, except when it came too proofs. I don't know why, but they would assign cameo designations, to coins that didn't have a trace of cameo on it! I know everyone has flaws, but like that? Other than that, I think they were pretty good, lol.

    I crossed a PCI 1922-D MS-65 to an NGC 1922-D MS-65.........

Rlm has impressed with with the few he has. touch and go. I have seen PCI junk as well.

Buy the coin, lol, not the slab

Their grading is HORRIBLE. They will put rim filed coins routinely into holders. Call cleaned coins ms-65, call 58s 63 etc. I don't know how many damaged, scratched, repaired, whizzed etc coin I have seen in their holder, as it is too numerous to count. There are a few they get correct, but I think it is less than 5%. Of course they are no longer in business, most likely since the market would not accept the absolute garbage they put into holders.

All the PCI slabs I bought have exceptional coins in them, and I didn't pay a premium for a "top tier" slabber, I paid a discount. I didn't mind since I know how to grade coins myself.

I accept that PCI is not as consistent as the top tier graders, but if you find a coin you like in a PCI holder, you will probably pay less for it. So as long as you are buying the coin and not collecting plastic, PCI is good deal in my opinion. I own several coins in PCI slabs and I like them. I also believe the a old ANACS are underrated.

Isn't PCI recently merged with DGS?

I have seen a few PCI graded coins in ebay and they looked to me like perfectly graded.

PCI is to inconsistent as i recently bought two standing liberty quarters in PCI au-55 and au-58 holders that both said they were cleaned. I cracked them out as I knew they weren't cleaned by beautiful coins that they both graded PCGS 64. Their green holders are as consistent as they come.

Since there are now probably over a hundred TPG services in existance, many will just come and go. Many try hard to be decent, honest and just fail. Others don't care as long as they make money. Some start out attempting to do a good job and later find out how and become better all the time. I'm sure that NGC and PCGS at one time in the past were also not well thought of but since they were basically the first on the block, they had time to improve.
At coin shows I see all the time numerous slabs by organizations I never heard of and the coins appear to be graded fairly accurately but the prices just can't compare with a more popular company slab. Many times I've had delaers tell me they'll sell me a coin for the coin itself and if I want they'll take it out of the slab when it's from an unknown company.
