Actually she is a German... lets keep it a :secret: but she was painted by a Dane, Jens Juel:

In keeping with the theme of artwork by painter Jens Juel, this 500 Kroner note was first issued in 1974 with a portrait of Franziska Genoveva von Qualen, a noble lady from Holstein, Germany. The original artwork is in a museum in Ahrensburg, Germany. This note is P52d. The seller of the note is in Germany, and he must like fine art too, since he sent me a whole catalog of Jens Juel paintings with the note:D

Klon? That is the German word for clone. :D

Would that be Köln/Cologne maybe? Yep, great place ... who cares about Bavaria, phhh. Anyway, Holstein is part of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. I have no idea who or from where this lady was, and don't care what kind of passport she might have had, but here is some info about her (page 6) and the artist.

I'm not european, but I wouldn't pay much over face for those, because they are so new. That is 3.88 euro, which is about 5.33 USD. The shipping alone is $6, so I would probably say don't bid higher than $12.51.

Worked fine. I was just making fun about this Klon/clone thing. :)

@FreakyGarrettC: As you will have found out by now, that is the obverse of an Italian €1 coin. There is no such thing as a European mint; most euro countries have their own mints. The Italian mint's web site is here http://www.zecca.ipzs.it/

Would not pay much for the piece; being in Euroland, I can pick it up from circulation (well, most of what I get around here in NW is German or Dutch). The ones with the old reverse are pretty common; the coins with the new map are a little more expensive as Italy did not start using it until 2008 ...

Still don't know much about this Franziska on the Danis note. But I guess it is a portrait of her being a young lady. Nice one!
