Where do people go to sell illegal coins? I'm sitting here thinking about the people that have those 1933 Double eagles that can't get rid of them because they dont have the means to sell them outright but im sure there is a underground system that would love to get there hands on them but how they be sure there real since you cant send them off to get graded. I know theres more illegal coins to own like the 1974 Aluminum penny's. Whats the first step one would take?
I think this is Spock's area of expertise! Ribbit Ps: Welcome to CoinTalk, PP ratt! :hail: Pps: I couldn't help myself on the username pun. I am a toad.

Hi Ppratt3 and welcome! I am sure that such a network does exist in the dark world. There is one for rare books, art work, artifacts, etc. so I am sure there is one for illegal or stolen coins and paper. If it is like the others, if you aren't aware of the participants, more than likely you could never come in contact with them. If you are a rich and famous, just do an interview and mention you are a collector, and set back and wait to be contacted. I hear the Russian mafia can get you anything from a nuclear sub to an original nail from the Holy Cross. ...what exactly do you wish for and how much can you move offshore? Jim
Now you guys leave Guido out of this. Guido never does anything illegal. He just helps me out if somebody makes me mad enough
Why'se don't you mind your own business dere? Sal, Vinnie and Fingers are always nearby.<----and dat's a nice smile for now.
This is sort of a silly question though. Every day items are being sold that have been stolen from somewhere. Many items are being sold right in the open at places like flea markets, auction houses, on the streets or even in regular stores. Around me it is illigal to sell guns or ammunition without a special card and even then some guns are outlawed. DUH, so what, the streets are full of them. At one flea market I know there is a few guys selling used tools that probably all came from a job site. Illigal filreworks, guns, knives, paintings, silverware, autos and trucks are stolen every day in some areas an never found. In the Chicago area there are approximately 50,000 autos stolen each year. Mostly all are lost forever somewhere. Selling coins, stamps, jewlery that has been stolen goes on all the time. So exactly what illigal coins do you want to sell.
