Stainless, this cameo stuff is just nutty. If you make it to a coin show you would see that ANY COIN that is a cameo is over priced. Just one more goofy thing people are going for in coins now. I've seen books now on just about everything in coins so I'm wondering who will be the first to come out with a book called CAMEO COINS.
You mean like: "Cameo and Brilliant Proof: Coinage of the 1950 to 1970 Era" by Rick J. Tomaska This was first printed in 1991.
WOW, there already is such a book. Odd I've don't remember seeing that one at coin shows. Usually at one coin show I go to there is a guy with a table full of coin books. One for just about every and anything dealing with coins and can't remember seeing that one.
You think just the cameos are exspensive don;t forget the ultra cameos way up there ,but they are beautiful coins wat out of my range . Jazzcoins Joe
Nice coins ,but i would have to say the 1885 morgan has a prooflike surface, but i don;t think it;s a cameo. Really nice coin. Jazzcoins joe
Carl....back in the mid 80's I collected the Cameo coins in .50,.25, .10..05, and .01 cent denoms. There was a book out on the Cameos back then and like a numskull I gave it a way to a friend......uggghhhh RickieB
Tomaska also has a very impressive inventory of CAM & DCAM coins on his website. If you are looking for high end proof cameo coinage, this is a great place to start. http://ricoins.com/ As far as CAMEO coins carrying premiums, they do, but the only truly rare CAMEO's are from the early proofs (1936-1942). I own only one and it cost me plenty. For your viewing pleasure a 1942-P Jefferson Nickel PF66 CAMEO with a population of 5/4.
