    Thanks guy's...

Daggar, the $20 is the Gem...(or so they say) the bottom margin on $5 is shallow..... details, details, details.....:D:D

i saw the shallow $5 bowder, but without the extra 3 seonds to verify the 'levels' of grades at PCGS ... i took a stab :)

the Gem label goes with anything from Gem New 65 to Superb Gem New 69 on the PCGS currency grading guide. So i guess technicaly the 'Choice Crisp Uncircuilated 65' would be a lower grade  :D

Thanks Urban...it is a tedious process looking for the right notes! You have made serious progress in the Chicago collection..I was just viewing it on banknotebank..Very nice indeed!!

Hey Daggar...I need to get used to their grading standards as well. I received a booklet from them when I joined the Collectors Club...it is somewaht different than the others...
PCGS and PMG sem to be the top 2 at the moment..LOL..Who's to say that will last??

Anyhow...it is a lower grade, but one I happily accept in the NY collection! I am a picky person..but at this point I am starting to wonder if I will ever collect all the small size for NY printings...some are just plain difficult to locate! Long term goal for sure as I pick away at onsie's and towsie's...LOL

By this, do you mean the note is slightly off center downward? If that's the case, is this kind of the paper money version of a "weak strike." Meaning, the note can still be a high grade uncirculated...but might max out at 65 or so while an equal condition centered note might grade a point or 2 higher?

    Hi RichieB...

Yes very much so the Grading standards for Paer money have different Gem, CHCU, AU, EF ect..ect.. grades that take into account margins, inking, off center, cutt ect..ect..ect...

As with coins, a scratch can lower the grde a few pointsa or even body bag it as damaged! It works much the same way with it's own set of variables.

Perhaps I will post a link for you to the PCGS grading Guides??
