Hi, new member here and my first post and I collect Indian coins. MS61 and I do not think that is the scarce 457.10
welcome to CT and thats ok its a 457.10 NGC is not that bad and neither am I and the dealer who sold it is one of the best in the business P.S its also the only one graded by NGC so there arent any other graded examples out there
I ve always liked those Indian coins from that time and especially the Portuguese! they are my favorite! Id go with MS60
yeah my portugese india collection is almost complete and i certainly didnt plan to complete it before the british india collection life is strange but those coins are more affordable
Where are you all getting 60 or 61 from? I only see a couple of ticks on the cheek and nothing of much note on the rev. I'd say it graded 64 despite the slightly unsightly toning. Personally I'd maybe call it 63. That said I think I'm probably bad at this game. :/
This one would have gone to MS64 if not for the muted luster and ugly black spots which do not seem to be toning. Coin is lucky to be graded in my opinion. The reason why I said it is not 457.10 is that I do not see 35 berries on the coin. Maybe spock with the coin in hand might see the berry on the left of "ONE". Krause does not contain all the varieties and the TPG's are known to mis-attribute.
TPg's are not that bad that they will misattribute rarities and again neither are the dealers which i buy from. There is no corrosion on the coin and no luck in getting it graded
wow....it wasn't long ago you were bashing the TPG's staying that they NEVER get any of these type of coins right, and how no one should trust them... Speedy
yes but read the comment above i siad they are not that bad to misattribute rarities by declaring common coins as rarities usually its the otherway round
i would be number one in any registry of indian coins but its not about that at all hell i am the founding father but seriously i have never seen them declare somethign valuable when its not its always the other way round
if you agree this is a G then we agree that this 457.10 since it has a crescent it has to be 8 since G 6 does not exist unless you are saying its a new variety unknown in KM and pridmore
if you agree this is a an indian head then it is a G then we agree that this 457.10 since it has a crescent it has to be 8 since G 6 does not exist unless you are saying its a new variety unknown in KM and pridmore
spock, I do not know whether this is an unknown variety since do not have the coin in hand. Please take high resolution pics and post them here which shows the crescent and also the presence (or absence of the berry near "ONE"). Since you have the coin in hand you would be a better judge. As for the head being Indian it is not so since the chin is chubby (as in English head) and also the nose is not so sharp. You should purchase an Indian head and place both coins together and would know the difference. This is a common mistake people make so don't worry about it. The TPG's don't have the time and will to do this sort of detailed research and would normally put what you attributed them and nor would the dealer do for the same reasons. Detailed attribution can be done after your inputs.
