Absolutely no way to tell with those pics.

Can you try to take fully lit, in focus, straight on pictures?

There are die clashes known on the 1951, so I'm not saying its not possible - I'm saying its not possible to see on your pictures.

I'm asking about the outline of what appears to be the "bottom of the bell" line in front of his face?

Ditto! I would also like to see a photo of the reverse taken under the same conditions as a new photo of the obverse. ~ Chris

The bottom of the bell should be across the top of Franklin's head. ~ Chris

In front of his face will be the outline of the eagle's feathers. The clash known as "Bugs Bunny" that produces the buck teeth look is actually from the feathers of the eagle.

So, if you think its "the bottom of the bell" then I'll say you're definitely seeing things.

A clash is the mirror image of the other side - think to yourself what matches on the other side. The bell would be at the bottom of the reverse, so it would be across the top of the obverse - basically, through his forehead.

I think that is more of a toning issue but better photos are needed.
