I picked this up yesterday and notice the sealed case had finger prints on the dollar and little marks. Question how can I remove them so the coins will look good? Cheryl

I wouldn't use windex near a coin so probably just a microfiber cloth, thats what I use. I really need to go pick up the statue of liberty coins.

Thanks, I try to use Eyeglass cleaner on the case but the prints are still there. Cheryl

:rolling: You don't think the humidity or chemicals being around the coin will harm it do you? I wouldn't do it normally.

No you can tell its on the case. You can see it on the case then the reflection of the case mark on the shiny proof part.

I can't tell, I coin has a good reflection on them. Why would there be prints and marks on the coin if they had them sealed in a case. Cheryl

Like I said, it looks like it is on the case. My first flight case has a few scratches on its case to. I highly doubt it is on the actual coin. :D

It could just be carelessness at the mint , they're supposed to wear gloves but being human after a breack or something they could forget , it wouldn't be the first time , I've gotten sealed coins with what looks kile cough droplets . But most likely they are on the case .
rzage , maybe a little cleaner on a rag , then wipe with a clean rag .
    ;)

If it annoys you that bad send it to a coin grading place and get it slabbed.

Here is a suggestion. I've tried denatured Alcohol on many plastics with different results. For example the tops of those Solar Lights when they get all dirty and block the sun. Some come out clean as if new. Others get worse and turn completely dark. I've tried taking the gummy stuff off those plastic rolls from tape. I use tape and paper to lable the coins in the rolls and when I change I tried to take that tape off. On some rolls it comes right off. On others it turns the plastic all cloudy.
These results are always random pending the type of plastic.
So here is my suggestion. Take a cotton swab or small piece of cloth. Dip in denatured Alcohol, not rubbing Alcohol. On the bottom of the slab try rubbing a little and wait to see the results. If nothing, then slowly, very slowly try those finger prints. The main thing is to try a few places on the bottom out of the way to make sure the Alcohol will not effect that type of plastic.
And attempting to try this on other slabs may not have the same results since organizations change thier products frequently.

If all else fails, and you are very brave, pvc primer will take off anything. It will even remove spraypaint and permanent marker. See if u can find the clear stuff and not the purple. Try a test area first as sometimes it will make certain plastics cloudy. Also, I have never tried this on a coincase and am just throwing out ideas. Not sure of effects of the gasses on a coin. Disclaimer- For professionals only, DO NOT try this at home.
