Well, there are French Oceana - Polynesian francs coins, and French pacific francs...I could be wrong but no silver in the 10 francs. Probably nickel...unless there are actual coins minted by Tahiti with that name, if so I have not seen them.
Yep, Tahiti is part of French Polynesia, and the 10 francs CFP coins are nickel pieces. http://www.ieom.fr/images/piecesPF.jpg The coin has a face value (in €) of 8.4 ct - not very likely to contain anything terribly precious. Also, while this may be disappointing for those who don't care much about coins but rather about their metal value, I don't think that any country has silver in its circulation coins ... Christian
Tahiti 20 franks Hi ! Christian, That is an interesting statement about silver coins. Most of the foreign coins I have are aluminun, brass or nickel, but these particular coins were so brillient I thought they may have had some silver in them. Thanks for the comments.
