The last one sold for over $1,000. Unbelievable! https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-S-Lin...ONG-Machine-Doublied-Date-MD-UNC/333564589241
One thing you notice is that the seller never lied.. He stated - Quote "1969-S Lincoln memorial cent with STRONG machine doubling (MD) on the date and mint mark. Note this is not a doubled die, but an excellent example of strike doubling." closed quote The only place he lied was in his title where he named it a Doublied Date
I don't have a problem with it. Its the true original spirit of ebay. List an auction, give an accurate description, start at .99 cents, and see what happens. More power to him.
I do have an issue with it. No matter what the description says, an honest dealer wouldn't sell these coins for any kind of a premium over a dollar. And it's not even worth that. Taking advantage of fools is no excuse. The hobby only loses integrity when this kind of profiteering is allowed.
I don't have an issue with it. Its your money and you spend it. I spend mine on what I want. This is not taking advantage of anybody you don't have to look or bid on it period.. jus move along... jus like buying anything else... do your homework.. or else..... .. been there expensive learning...
People will pay for the things they like no matter what they are. I like the machine doubling coins they have a look all their own and when it comes to value on anything, it only matters what someone will pay for the things they like. I have some Hitler stamps that I inherited from my uncle, and according to his records he paid $35 for them, along side the notation it reads, man offered him $100 for the sheet of stamps and he refused to sell thinking that they was worth more, I don't know if they are or not but that's a good example of what someone will pay for something they like
I guess my biggest collection is my coca cola collection, my mom started it with a Christmas plate and since then all my friends and family have been giving me items for about 30 years now. I've never paid for any coca cola item, my most recent item is a toaster for hot dogs and buns. I have about 100 items now, I wish they all would have just given me the money they spent on the items in coins then I wouldn't have so much wasted space, lol
