Howdy fellow coin peeps, I have a coin in a NCS slab that I want to take out of the slab and put in my collection but I'd like to open the slab without busting it into pieces. What's the best way to do it? Here's the coin: Ribbit
I have a sawz-all so I will use it and hopefully not cut off any fingys in the process. :goofer: Ribbit
Use a very fine toothed blade then. And make sure the slab is held securely - NOT by your hand. The blade will jump and you will be sorry.
depends on the service tier they have genuine only slabs which i think is a way to dupe the unsuspecting buyer elsewhere in the world IMHO
There are different types of services and you pay more as you get more done. I think the lowest is just authentication, next should be grading, then attributing (or vice-versa). As you go up the rung, it costs more, since to grade it they have to authenticate it and to attribute it, they also have to authenticate it. So the cheapest way to slab your coins is Authentication only services. Ribbit
I'm sure a hacksaw and vise would work , or a dremel tool with the little round cutter grinder wheel . rzage
I think the Dremel is probably the best. :thumb: I've been wanting to buy one so now I've got an excuse. Ribbit
As I understand it, they just authenticate coins. If you want grading also they pass it over to NGC (unless it has been altered, then that would be useless.)
