Just something I laughed at - http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-1835-CAPPED-BUST-SILVER-QUARTER-ERROR-COIN-X7_W0QQitemZ160287335680QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item160287335680&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14. The sad part is some people might actually believe this. PS - I did send the seller a question on why the 2 is missing.
It actually looks like a counterfeit to me. I don't like the way the denticles look on the obverse, from 8K to 1K. :kewl: I am not an expert on these so maybe we'll hear from them shortly? Ribbit
The sellers response - was not obvious to me. How could it not be????? Oh well. Remind me to skip that sellers coins in the future.
LOL - and I can remember only one date. Lets see - our dog died, my brothers new Apple Krate(not sure of spelling) bike was stolen, and man walked on the moon. OH YEAH - that was his 8th birthday.
The photos aren't so good. It does look like a plug at the date but that doesn't explain the missing 2. Most holed coins I've seen are holed at the top obverse.
A closer look and there is something going on next to the star by the forehead. I think the star would be about where the 2 should be on the reverse. Plugged twice???
I have no idea why the seller didn't specify the error. I assume he didn't know the termanolgy.I would say that it could be a greased filled die, but than again just my opinion .The coin just dosn't seem right to me. Jazzcoins Joe
Look closer Jazz - the coin is plugged which I think removed the 2. And from further posts it looks like it was plugged twice.
