Hi I'm new to this site

    Today I was searching on one of my coins. It has PATRONA HUNG 1779 X S MARIA MATER DEI written on one side. Could anyone tell me what this coin is?? I saw some post on the 1780 restrikes and could'nt find out much about coins dated prior to that.

    I assume this is the coin you are asking about (different date of course) -

    My question would be how big is the coin as they used the same design on 1/2 thaler and thaler denominations.

    Anyway, is either a 1/2 thaler or thaler struck in Hungary under Maria Theresa who ruled the Austrian Empire at the time.
