Hello everyone, Sorry I just have to ask you once again, awhile back I had some coins with no dates and I thought why not ask the experts on Coin talk. Never really thought you would have an answer, have to admit I was shocked and wondered what kind of equipment do you all use to figure out a possible date on coins with NO dates? How do you see this? DUH!! I figured it out it's because you are all experts and have studied coins I assume for many years.

So going to ask again, I have this penny and was wondering what year do you see? Forgot to mention it's a Wheat Penny. I would love to hear your opinions.

    Thank you very much.

That's a smushed date, all right. What does the reverse look like? Is there a bulge matching the dent in the front?

I see what looks like a "15", but I'm not sure it's the right size or shape. More importantly, I think I see a hint of the "VDB" on the truncated bust, which means 1918 or later.

The mark on the front kind of looks like a "D" mintmark as well, but again, I think it's the wrong size and position.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with "date destroyed".

P1470502.JPG Ditto with the VDB .Looks like a 1919 and the second 9 took a hit splitting it.

Easily a 1919, unfortunately not a very rare date.
