Glenna Goodacre passed away on Monday. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ab...nta-fe-sculptor-glenna-goodacre-dies.html/amp She had signed a couple coins for me at the 2000 ANA show.
Signed slabs are so passe. Signed coins... that's cool! GG was a fantastic sculptor. Several of her pieces are on display at a local sculpture garden, BrookGreen Gardens.
Now that is cool. Once this current quarantine situation clears up, that sounds like a perfect weekend excursion.
She was signing mostly promotional material at that show, but I didn't really want that. Of course, I didn't have the presence of mind to have ANACS certify them despite being in line with one of their graders (Mike Faraone) when I had them signed. No matter, I still have them, and I know what they are. They're in CW slabs to protect them. I was browsing through some images of her work this morning, and it made me wonder what kind of designs she could have produced had she had the design latitude that Saint-Gaudens and Fraser had. She'd also have done a knockout design for the Oregon Trail half.
