    Hello!

I am diligently sorting cents now.
    I came across 13 rolls of 1959-D B.U.

Can anyone tell me what a roll of these are worth?

    Thanks so much.

Well, the are uncirculated so that would be good MS? But they are new looking and not red. The Red Book only gives values for reds.

That leads me to another question. Why and how do some coins turn red? I've clearly got some but I don't know how it happened.

    Maybe a dollar a roll.

UNC rolls are worth more than face value.
Coins leave the mint as Red, they don't turn Red later on.

Are these BWR’s ( bank wrapped rolls )? Do you have any pictures? 1959 D has at least 145 RPM’s ( repunched mint marks ) and few doubled dies. Some are valuable and some aren’t worth much over face value.

They don't turn red, MS or BU coins should be red and then turn brown.

I started buying rolls of LMC when they first came out in 1959 when I was in High School. Some I opened back then and some I held until just recently. One of the characteristics we found on the 1959 was a cracked skull. It was fun back then and I kept a bunch of them. There were a lot of these rolls held back since it was a transition year, from Wheat to Memorial. I'll include a photo of a cracked skull. They are not worth anything that I know of, but they are fun to find. 1959 D Cracked Skull #5 Obv.jpg

59 - 64 are some of my favorite years for LMCs!

    Danomite-

Here is a photo of a 59-D. Sorry, it's the best photo I can do with an old camera. I don't have a Smart phone.
