I can understand that. Im quite the opposite. Little things I don't let bother me but I tend not to be passive if I feel like im being attacked. As others have said the internet is very difficult when you can hear tone and see faces for conversation. Sometimes I forget my tact as well. I collect many things coins historical documents gems and such. I even put a display together for many of them. I do a lot with Spanish historical pieces and have a few napoleon documents. My coin interest vary but I do like errors, Asian coins, and whatever I find appealing mostly. I use to do metal detecting but didn't really have any luck or good places to go to.
The first gold coin I ever bought was a 1945 Dos Pesos, great little starter coins! I'm amazed by your collection, though different years takes a lot of time and gumption, good on you for the share!
Yes my first was a 1945 as well and one of the Maximillian peso coins small ones. I got ride of both of them a long time ago.
I am inclined to think it's you who needs the chill pill. Whether he puts an S at the end of pesos is relatively inconsequential in the grand scheme of numismatics. Just like I continue to point out that since there's no definitional difference between double die and doubled die. The correction is, for lack of better words, meaningless and self-serving. You didn't even comment about the coins posted. People don't come here to get corrected on their grammar, they come to talk about coins. Having said that, you've got a wealth of knowledge in numismatics and it's great when you share that. @Old World Coins nice set! I only own the 1945, which I bought a few years ago. I didn't realize there were so few years in the set. Thanks for sharing. Also, what was your MOS? Edit: seems like the 1945 is the ice breaker for a lot of us with gold coins. It was my first ever gold coin purchase
I started out as a 95B MP and switch to a 95D/31D CID. I got hurt over in Afghanistan and it eventually led to an early retirement at 18 years. Yes I only had the 1945 until I saw another of a different year and look at the set information listed with NGC and thought it would be a cool set as you rarely hear anything about them aside from the 1945 piece.
Well I appreciate your (opinion) comment and your entitled to state what you feel.. but please read the rest of the thread. I definitely made some positive comments about his coin. And I explained my reason for pointing out the use of the singular and plural use of the word Peso.. It was on my part as a Spanish speaking person an attempt to show the importance of the usage. I was not attempting to upset him nor ridicule anyone. Please read the rest of the thread and see how it developed. And stop stating my correction to others about the use of the proper numismatic usage of the term Doubled Die. I have received more thanks for the correction than unnecessary remarks as you made today... Have a good night my friend.
I read everything before commenting, and am also a Spanish (and German) speaking person. I understand quite well the importance of proper grammar; I also try to recognize the time and place for such corrections. Just because you didn't intend to upset or ridicule someone doesn't mean you achieved your desired goal. The first thing you did was correct him. The second thing you did was patronize him. The third thing you did was insult him. The fourth thing you did was self-promote. Twice. And only then, did you thank the OP for posting their coins... It's a pattern that I'm trying to help you recognize. You can only lead a horse to water. You have a good evening as well.
I'm a 19A and will be in for my 12th year in a month or so. Thanks for your service and I hope you weren't hurt too badly over there. I wish I were better at picking short sets and completing them. I like to go for the stuff that super-expansive. Right now, I collect German States Coinage.
You forgot to mention that I apologized.. Well.. Until the day comes that Peter or the moderators decide to delete my account then paddyman will be paddyman
yes there were several sets I gave up on because either they were to vast, I lost interested of the key dates we the cost of a year of college.
I am going to ask you to please stop bashing me.. You could of sent me a Private message instead of trying to make me look like a fool in front of a community that I have known for many years. I don't need or want anymore of your comments. I can and I will report you! Thank you.
I think private messaging is a great idea, and admit I considered that option for a bit, but the last time I private messaged you about such things, you blew me off. Maybe you could also try messaging people privately, instead of correcting them in public and following that up with patronizing and insulting comments. If you feel bashed by my comments, from someone you've interacted with for a couple of years who shares your same passion for error coins, imagine how newcomers feel when a complete stranger publicly admonishes them and self-promotes, making them feel insignificant and stupid. Besides, I haven't bashed you at all, simply pointed out your actions to help you understand why you might feel misunderstood. I also haven't broken any rules, so feel free to report me as many times as you wish, but that threat holds no water. I'm sorry for offending you. Edit: and also for hijacking this thread.
Yes.. Please do next time. I will respond. I will decide that. Most likely not but I will keep it in mind.
