Maybe some of you guys can talk some sense into this guy. I can't. If you are interested, I can post my email correspondence. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=547&item=3966569250&rd=1 Here's the first part of the correspondence: Me: Hello, I know this auction is either a joke or a mistake considering the price. But, are you interested in selling the coin? I may be interested. Him: Hello! Yes I'm interested in selling this coin! No this is no joke, If you like what you see and read in this auction then you won't be disappointed! Considering the price I think its is reasonable, given the rarity, certification, and historical value of the gold itself! I encourage you to ask any questions you may have! Thank you! =)
Wow! It would be more believable if it was coming from someone with feedback of 10,000 or something, but 4??? Come on! It's not even worth 60,000 pennies! (Not to me anyway)
I'd like to know where he got the coin from. He thinks it is worth a ton because only 3,500 were minted.
here is another winner http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3455&item=3964675278&rd=1
Another example of EBay not enforcing its rules. Replicas are supposed to be identified in the heading and the body of the description. In this case, liisting it as "Exonumia - Tokens" successfully conned three people into bidding, and one into buying.
Read the listing NOS. 10mm 8K gold means that there is a plating of 8K gold. 8K is .3333 gold, so the total pure gold on that coin weighs considerably less than 1 gram. The current spot price of gold is approximately $14 per gram. Those are facts, not wishful thinking.
Oh my lands! that is pretty funny. He probably thinks its so much because its the "Freedom Tower Gold" which supposedly came from wreckage of the Twin Towers. It all turned out to be a scandal so the goverment busted these guys and recalled a bunch of them. Mabey thats why he thinks its worth so much or mabey hes just crazy either way its way to much for that coin.
I see Satootoko. You'd think people would pay more attention when bidding over $400 for something. I have an account on ebay...perhaps I should ask if he would accept cash...!
NYS Attorney General Eliot Spitzer would like to learn of the minting and sale of these "coins". He's already closed down the "silver" coins; now maybe it's time for the "gold". http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2004/nov/nov9a_04.html
Yes he did, hehe. I'd give him a ring! Can anyone say national collectors mint? hehehe btw I sent him a email about this auction, he didn't waste any time in answering. Here is a c&p: You asked: "I can see u r new at this. R u serious bout selling this? It is not as rare as u think, cheap, actually. Is this a joke? Thx" I'm sorry you feel this way! I am serious about selling this coin! It's not a joke! It is what it is! If you like what you see in this listing, you won't be disappointed! Thank you! Tony
Yep. That's the stock answer he gave me. I can't believe with hours to go on the auction he wouldn't consider changing the price.
He must believe that there will be a sniping war at the end. The only thing being sniped is his insertion fees!!!!!!!!!!
In regards to the 8K gold fake coin he says what it is in the auction so it may seem unscrupulous but if people are willing to pay that much what it is the over all problem?? BTW I've emailed the guy who wants 60 grand for that WTC coin asking if he will accept cash. Should be interesting if he says yes!
I think this seller will find out that collectors with an extra $60,000 lying around for their hobby didn't get that extra money being stupid or ignorant. What a waste of good insertion fees!
