What's the difference in content of a post in Coin Chat vs. a post in US Coin Forums? aside from the obvious US Coin Forums should be about US coins . . . I guess! Is there any other criteria a poster should know about where to post his/her posts?
I'm going to get around to tweaking the names of the sections and make it more organized, eventually.
I always felt it was for general discussion that fit into neither the US/World or Ancient/Error/Paper forums.
I put a thread in "Coin Chat" if it's a topic that applies to any and all coins... cleaning, grading, counterfeit detection, which wing is the eagle's left wing, etc.
I thought every conversation on these forums were about coins, silver, gold etc. Currency had its forum page and that was it. Bunch 'em all together. Let's all go to the party in the same mini-van. Good Fun can be had by all! :mouth:
Yep - still about coins, but in general. US Coins for US Coin questions, sharing etc. All non-coin related topics are in General Discussion which you must opt into.
I just usually put a post into what ever forum I'm in at the time when another post or subject reminds me of something or a point of curiosity. Yup, as I go through all the posts, I wouldn't know where to sort one post from another. I figured if someone wanted to see 'em in another forum, they'd just mod it there. Right? :kewl:
And another point of question . . . has anybody ever gotten that edit button to work? If U did, what's the secret?
The way I figure it is if I have a general question regarding coins (US or otherwise) I'll go through coin chat. More specific questions and I rely on the US forum
The Edit Button works on your own posts only. If you make a boo-boo or if you want to add something after the fact, hit it and make your changes then click the Save button. If you need the full features then click on the Go Advanced button, from the Edit page, but for simple changes the Edit button works. Ribbit
It's never worked for me no matter how or what I've tried for years. I just figured it's easier to add anothe post that go nuts trying to figure out things that don't work. It's sort of like trying to add two different quotes in the same reply. I give up on that too. Just old age but why bother.
Please don't. I really like things the way the are and being really old, changes tend to make me dizzy. Of course If someone could stop me from having to scroll all the time, that would be nice.
I click onto it and nothing happens, (except a bunch of dots creating a circle) so I stopped using it.
Guess the US Coins forum is for US coins (duh) while World & Ancient is for anything non-US that is still country specific. But of course there are many numismatic topics which are not really country specific, such as questions about minting technology, coins with certain themes (be them from the US or the World), or accessories, and so on. Those topics should be in Coin Chat, I think. But we tend to be flexible here. Christian
Hal, When the bunch of dots creating a circle appear, is the dialog box present? If so you make the corrections in the dialog box and hit save.
