I took some photos today of what I believe might be a clipped planchet. It has some tiger stripes on the obverse but not as noticeable in normal light. The 65-67's are my favorite LMC and I noticed some Blakesley effect. It was only $4.00 so it wasn't too much of a gamble in case my bubble gets burst. .
Nope. That was just damaged after it left the mint. Keep looking. EDIT: Here are a couple clips that I have found over the last few years.
FYI - The term "Clipped Planchet" is not literal.. The correct terminology should be Incomplete Planchet.. they were never actually clipped. The areas missing was when the blank was to punched to close to a previous blank that was punched correctly.
Yeah, that's what I call fingerprints on coin paddyman98. So do you think it was an attemp at the Blakesley effect with a hammer? Or just natural damage.
More than a good attempt at a Blakesley. You may have an end of roll incomplete planchet with a fold over ... Not always a smooth edge on the end
It looks like Heavymetal may have got it right . From the photos it sure does look like it was struck on a end of a roll planchet with a fold over. The old Ruckus coin in one of my threads that caused so much confusion has a teeny tiny place on it like this but it is so small the metal filled it out to the rim.
