Hello all. I’m fairly new to the hobby and Was hoping you guys help me with a couple questions?

    1. Do you think this qualifies for FT designation?
    2. What do you think this would grade? 65? 68? Something else?

Thanks in advance for your help

Not a FT and not an MS coin. Also not Ike. That's Roosevelt!!

Not a mint state. To qualify as a mint state it would need to be nearly mark free, reflective in appearance. Grading would then be assigned based on the number of minor, barely noticeable ticks. But don't let that discourage you from pursuing this series. The one in question isn't bad for an album. Thanks for sharing!

Grade of a coin as MS or not doesn't depend on dings or marks or on any appearance of luster. If it shows no signs of wear, it can be MS60. Your coin shows signs of wear, so it can't be considered as MS.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the feedback and understand your points about the grading. Collecting Nut, why do you say no FT, though. The dividing lines on the bands appear there to me. But, again, new here so maybe something I’m missing.

A Roosevelt dime set for an album would be a good project to start collecting with.

The Torch bands on your coin are worn. No TPG would ever grade it FT.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the FT designation is only for MS grades no matter how good they might be on anything less than MS60.

From NGC “Dimes do not need to be Mint State to qualify for the FT and FB designations, but it should be no surprise that most that qualify are Mint State. These designations are not used for Proof dimes, which are assumed to have been well-struck.”
