    Hi,

I'm new, this is my first post. I'm not sure if this has been answered. I have a steel 1943 s penny with a ghosted 4 and an unclear blob of an s. Is that old news, or is it worth something?

There are plenty of examples such as yours. We have seen many. Worn Dies (overused) can form debris on some of the letters, numbers and the mint mark. It is called a struck through debris or grease.
The debris compacted on the number 4 on the Die and did not allow it to form properly.
Neat but nothing really major. And no premium.

Welcome to the neighborhood @Cory1222 !

Like Mr. P. said, the weak "4" is probably the result of a partially grease-filled die which is very common and does not command a premium. To me, the mintmark looks like it has some wear and tear from circulation. ~ Chris
