    These are my friends coins, they look pretty old. I need help finding out what they are and how much they're worth. Heres pictures of the front and backs of them. Sorry for the quality of the pictures it was tooken with a crappy cellphone camera. He got these off of his family that was passed down to him.

    These coins do not have dates on them nor any writings of where they originated from. If I posted in the wrong forum I'm sorry. Any help identifying is really appreciated

    Welcome to the forum.
    The first is Spanish, but the pictures are not clear enough to tell, possibly a 2 reale. Need clearer pictures to read the date;
    the second is Greek, but as far as dating its Greek to me.

    Possibly post both of them to the Foreigh & ancient forums.

    Afraid the 2 pics are rather indistinct all I can make out on the first is a cross on the front and on the reverse a 8 and nothing at all on the second :mad:

    The second one looks like Philip II of Macedon, Alexander the Great's father. It looks like its supposed to be a silver tetradrachm. If so, I doubt its genuine. Of course, better pictures would help tremendously.

    The first is a Bolivian 1723 cob 8 reales struck at Potosi where silver had been discovered in 1543..... which was mainly used as a convenient medium for shipping bullion rather than for local circulation. No idea of value.. sorry. Will research the second.
    Best wishes, Mike.

    Just curious, how can you say that based on those pictures ?

    Sorry... assuming that the coin is genuine of course..... I have some pics which clearly show the coin and description to go with it. I can't of course determine whether it is genuine. Best wishes, Mike.
