So I found a 1992 D close AM, and I'm sad about it.

    I can't make anything out of that last digit. Could be an 8 or a 9. No telling.

    I'm going to agree with Kevin here . From what I'm seeing it would be impossible to tell for sure what the date is. The surface of this coin has been scuffed around and distorted so much the date can not be correctly read. I'm wondering how could someone decide this was a 1992 date ?

    How do we know the date is not a mangled 3 or 8? With so much obverse damage I don't think it's conclusively 1992.
