I've been waiting to post this one until my photography skills had advanced to the point where I could actually do this coin some justice. Now these pictures are okay, but they still don't capture the myriad and depth of the colors of blue on the obverse of this coin, nor does it reflect the sharpness of the reverse toning. But for all that, here it is. I think it could go MS-65 easily
Nice! I like the halo effect on the reverse. I have a question. With the obverse so heavily toned, if you were to leave it to its elements, would it tone faster now that it has started? Because I understand that one day, all coins will tone to a pitch black - just wondering if it accelerates with age....
I do believe that it would probably eventually turn black. However, I have attempted to arrest the toning process by encapsulating the coin in an inert holder and stored it in an extremely low humidity, low sulfer environment. Which should keep the coin looking blue purple and beautiful for years to come.
Cool coin! I would have to see it in hand to really say I like it, but it certainly looks nice. Some toning is a turn-off to me.
