i get that same feeling 2 stainless i think the lettering seems 2..."perfect" and the outter edge much 2 round could just be me being paranoid though

Looks like a worn cast fake. I would steer clear. Note what appears to be a casting defect on the nose of Diana.

His other stuff looks fine, particularly his bronze. I'd check his Otho and Galba denarii against the database of cast and pressed fakes before I bought, though.

I often see stuff like that and run! There's too much to scare me off on that one but I do think it's kewl! What about finding other examples to compare it to? How about this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Silver-Denarius...emQQimsxZ20080912?IMSfp=TL0809121110008r25168

That one looks more real than the one you showed us (IMO and I don't know these at all). Or what about this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Parion-AR-Hemid...39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

That one reminds me of the one you posted, the way the metal looks washed out and so white. I would run from it as fast as the one you posted, but like I say, I haven't a clue about these so I don't buy them. Also, while I was looking around, I found this website:

    http://www.muenzauktion.com/brandt/...99&PHPSESSID=3b13c0c5cb44f674b96b63193a04bb4a

His prices are HIGH but I like the site for reference purposes. ;)

The denarius you posted is a completely different type, toad. And I'd recommend using wildwinds.com for reference, they have a much wider variety than any individual dealer.

The Parion drachm could be okay. I'm cautious of it mostly because of the number of Gorgon fakes out there. I've dealt with that seller before, pictures are always crappy and washed out, the coins look much better in hand.

One extremely important thing to look for on ancient coins are flow lines in the metal. I'll explain better later.

I knew it was but I couldn't find one like he posted, using the information provided by the seller. :( I don't know enough about these coins and if the seller doesn't provide the correct information, I usually can't find one for reference, but sometimes, when the seller does provide the correct information, I still can't find one for reference, so I don't know if the seller got it right on this one or not, since I couldn't find one for reference. ;)

Thanks for the reference site! :D I always like to find good reference sites for my "digital library". ;)

I don't know much about OLD ancient coins Stainless, but that is one fine looking coin for as old as it is supposed to be.

NOTE: "ALL COINS GUARANTEED TO BE GENUINE."

By who ? The seller's word or a reputable coin expert ?

It's a fake and a dead giveaway is the cast ridges below or to the bottom of the A and B in S*N*ABIN on the reverse and Diana missing a lock of hair in front of the ear this should be Craw 372/1 or syd 745 regards Harry :stooge:

I don't even know what a Gorgon is, other than that place the little toy monstors wanted to go to in Small Soldiers. ;)

Its an ancient coin with medusa on it, there were many different types made in a wild variety of different styles (not sure about more modern)...they generally look like this but vary wildly also in sophistication...this is a pretty nice example but I have seen much better and this one would go around 400 maybe.

When I clicked on the first coin, it looked like a scene from "ShreK" with the donkey and Friona. So that is really a bull and a priest......I can see that on the reference copy posted by Drusus.
