This coin seems to have 5 die strikes, is very unusual, and appears genuine. Your opinions and comments are welcome. The coin is being evaluated at this time and is not in my possession. It can not be graded but if original can be certified. I have had several highly qualified professionals indicate the coin does not appear to be fake, and should be looked at by one of the top 3 coin evaluation organizations. I have chosen a trusted numismatist and he has selected PCGS. PCGS has stated it could take several months to evaluate because of the current situation. The clock is ticking, good luck, and be safe! (the coin spec's are as follows: Weight 5.670, Diameter 0.955 with slight bulge
We did! I just hope that we hear from him after PCGS tells him he's nuts and so are his respected dealers. ~ Chris
Intentionally created with a vise. Had this coin been struck a number of times, what are the odds that the original portrait would still be perfectly framed in the center and untouched? If you can recreate a damaged coin at home as in this case, what is to stop people from creating "mint errors"? The large "R" from LIBERTY is reversed which happens when you press another coin into this one.
Did you pay the extra for authentication? If not, it will come back in a body bag, which it might anyway. Very cute kids. I'm glad you included that photo as it's nice to see children smiling in todays world. Thanks.
DEFDAM - Definitely Damaged Your Quarter is Not a mint error of any kind! Be nice?.. Have a nice day! (you can't use your poll options to both reflect that answer you want to hear!)
Remember Forest Gump's mother's famous quote,"You can't fix stupidity." Thank you for your support, kind and pleasant words, appreciate your responses. The same luck to you also! Be safe
I guess you will never learn then. My momma always said, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." -Forrest Gump
I see that you have only been here on CT for 10 days. Not really enough yet to get your feet wet. Most coin dealers do not specialize in error coins and some only keep a few around that are easy to identify. Many here have collected errors for decades, including myself. Even I nor they have all the answers. But the above answers are all correct. The biggest clue as to yours being or not being an error was stated above, backward lettering. Therefore yours cannot be a genuine error as that is now how the coin is struck. We are trying to save you a lot of money by not sending to a TPG just to come back as not an error. Everyone wants to find a major error but they are few and far between found in the wild. Before you send it out contact the real specialist @Fred Weinberg who has 50 years invested in this type of coin/s. @paddyman98 has 35 years invested in this also.
