I just picked this up for $165, and am very happy with it. All comments are welcome!

It is the 1937 S Year, which means only about 6637 were made! My question is, how many were melted? How many are still left?

Another question: Should I keep it raw, or send it off to PCGS or NGC?

    Thanks! :D

Hopefully I will not spend it for a pack of gum! ;)

If you send it to me, I will send you TWO packs of gum! ;)

I see your trying to rip me off! I just checked "Slithington's Store Of Gum", and you can get a total of 3 packs for 50c! Aha!

    Trying to trick me...

Should I send it in for grading, or leave it raw?

In my opinion Ryan I think you should keep it raw however I'm sure that others would not agree with me. I just personally like the natural look.

I'm thinking 8007 were made and 1370 were melted.
    That would leave 6637.

Yup! I just double checked and I believe your right! Well, still, 6637 is a really low amount, and I have one of them!

    How about the grade?

The white balance looks to be a bit off and it's tough to see everything but i'll guess MS64 maybe 65. Really nice coin.

That's a really nice coin! Me, I'd keep it raw, so I could (very carefully) admire it without intervening plastic.

Very nice Texas , I'd put it in a Intercept Shield 2X2 . Best protection there is .

Very beautiful coin. I'm a huge fan of the Texas commemorative. For $165, I'd say you did very well.

    I doesn't belong in a flip, that's for sure! ;)

As to sending it off, if you plan on selling it, by all means but if you plan on keeping it, it's a waste of money. ;)

    Ribbit :)

I plan on keeping it for a long long time. I will probably put it in some sort of half dollar case :D

The one Rzage talked about is probably what you should get. Look on Ebay or the Internet to see what 10 would cost and find the best deal and order them. :thumb: You know you are going to buy more Comm's so get prepared. :D

    Ribbit :)

Ps: You could just PM Rzage and ask him if he knows of a cheap supplier? ;)

If you're thinking of slabbing it because you like the look, you can buy holders from coin world that will mimic the look of a slab. Thats what I do to some of my better coins. And as for the coin itself, absolutely fabulous and gorgeous. I love it, the design, the strike, phenomenal. Seeing it makes me want to go buy another one for my collection, and for $165, WOWSA! You did good.
